SOC 3500 Sociology of Gender

(formerly SOC 350; SOC 125 and 225; Sociology of Women)

Examination of gender dynamics and inequalities in contemporary society. The course examines the way that gender is socially constructed and maintained within the social, economic, and political institutions. Attention will be paid to how gender intersects with other systems of inequality, such as race/ethnicity, class, and sexuality. Students will gain an understanding of the impact of gender from both a macro-level and a micro-level sociological lens.
