General Studies, Bachelor of Arts
The graduation requirements for a bachelor's degree awarded through the Continuing Education Program are the same as those listed in the Graduation Requirements section of this catalog.
The requirements for the General studies major are: Twenty-four (24) credit hours in one department (for this purpose all courses offered under Business & Economics are considered one department), with a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours at the 300-400 level); fifteen (15) credit hours from a second department; and nine (9) credit hours from a third. Departments should be chosen with intention for a cohesive experience that will support the student's planned career goals.
In accordance with the undergraduate graduation requirements referenced above and in consultation with the registrar and a faculty member in the student’s primary department, each general studies major will identify an appropriate capstone course (minimum 1 credit) that will serve as a "culminating experience and provide an opportunity for synthesis of knowledge and skills obtained throughout the course of study.” The Capstone course may be selected from among those counted toward the minimum hours in each concentration area.
Students completing the general studies major are exempt from the Secondary Concentration requirement.
