POLS 230 International Security

The field of international relations seeks to understand how various actors, from individuals to states, cultivate, preserve, and terminate relationships with one another and how the nature of these relationships influence the security of human communities. A central challenge of international politics is the creation and maintenance of relative peace and security in a global system that lacks a common sovereign authority. This course approaches international security by exploring how diverse interests and strategic interactions can lead to conflict as well as how shared institutions and common political objectives can promote peace.
