EE 221 Digital I

In this course the students will be introduced to discrete time signals (digital). They will become familiar with basic digital circuit design, and analysis, via circuit theory (hand calculations)/ circuit simulation tools. The course will involve the introduction of binary, octal and hexadecimal number systems. Binary mathematics will be covered including; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Basic digital components such as: AND, OR, NAND, XOR and NOR gates will be covered in depth. Additionally, the course will cover truth tables creation and use in Flip Flop design (K mapping). JK, F, T and SR Flip Flops will be studied and examples, problems and projects will be completed; building on student knowledge as the course progresses to form the basis of digital design.  This course has a laboratory component.
