MHC 613 Culturally Responsive Play Therapy

This course will focus on applications of play therapy across race, class, and gender, as well as social justice advocacy in play therapy. The course will focus on self-awareness, knowledge, and skills relevant to providing culturally responsive interventions to diverse children and their families. Course topics include discussion of racial and ethnic background, cultural heritage, family structure (i.e. LGBTQ+ parents and non-traditional family structures), religious and spiritual beliefs, disciplinary styles, adverse childhood experiences, and trauma informed interventions.
