MEEM 2142 Trauma Handling
Discussion of the different types of traumas, their causes and complications, including soft tissue injuries, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, thoracic trauma, abdominal and skeletal muscle injuries, and burns. Analysis of the procedure to carry out the initial evaluation, management and treatment of different traumas. Description of patient management techniques for hemorrhage control and shock management. Application of skills for the management of various traumas, principles of immobilization, hemorrhage control and use of bandages. Requires 30 hours of lecture and 45 hours of laboratory.
