BIOT 7110 Molecular and Epigenetic Biology
Study of the concepts of central dogma, DNA and gene regulation in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms. Emphasis on RNA biology, RNA-induced silencing mechanisms in eukaryotes and phenotype characterization using direct and inverse genetic approaches. Analysis of Mendelian Genetics with emphasis on the application of epigenetics. Application of experimental designs for the understanding of molecular biology and epigenetics in biotechnology. Requires 30 hours of conference and 45 hours of laboratory.
