Program Description
The mission of the Postbaccalaureate program is to provide supplemental education to the baccalaureate degree that will prepare students for graduate programs in the health profession by improving the competitiveness of each student through education, service to mankind, and research.
This program is targeted toward individuals who hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university seeking to pursue admission into a health professions program. Undergraduate courses (including chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics) will be provided to baccalaureate-holding students to help improve their foundational knowledge of the health sciences. Additionally, students may pursue research opportunities in the areas of Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Public Health, and Biomedical/Pharmaceutical Sciences. Shadowing and medical service opportunities locally and/or abroad will be identified.
Admission Criteria
Applicants for the Health Professions Postbaccalaureate Program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. For students seeking to pursue the academic enhancement/leveling track must have a minimum of 2.8 GPA. A minimum of 2.5 cumulative undergraduate GPA is required for those seeking to pursue the career-changing track. Admission to the program requires the endorsement of both the program director and dean of the College of Health Professions, which will be based on evaluation of the following elements:
1. Completed application to HSU Graduate School
2. Two letters of recommendation from professors or professionals familiar with your professional and/or academic work.
3. Personal statement describing why you want to pursue your healthcare field of choice
4. Background check

Admission to the program requires review and recommendation by the director of the program via a review of application, academic record, community service record, healthcare/patient experience, and entrance exam scores (optional).
Courses
All courses are undergraduate courses and are expected to be completed in a 12-month period.
Curriculum
Student participating in the Health Professions Postbaccalaureate Program may enroll in any undergraduate course required to fulfill the minimal requirements and any elective courses that will better prepare the student for their preferred field. A 12-month curriculum will be designed by the program director for each student on an individual basis.
