Study of the impact of medieval institutions and thought on European society from 1300-1650 and subsequent flowering of culture during those yearsMajor focus will be on basic social, economic, andpolitical changes in Europe during the periodinculding: revival of classical learning and explosion of creative activity in the arts; changes in popular piety, political thought,and religious representation; and the religious crisisin Europe that culminated in Protestant revolt andCatholic Reformation.
