CSD 4351 Swallowing Across the Lifespan

This course covers swallowing disorders in both the pediatric and adult populations. Areas of discussion include the anatomy and physiology of normal deglutition as well as the stages of anormal swallow. The course will includeassessment of swallowing disorders. Disorders of deglutition are reviewed. Management of the patient with swallowing disorders after treatment of oral-pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer is discussed. Neuromuscular swallowing disorders areincluded. Special concerns directly affecting thepediatric population are highlighted.
