This course introduces disease concepts and various radiographic procedures related to pathology.

Upon completion of this course, the student will:
- Define basic terminology and concepts related to pathology.
- Define common terminology associated with the study of disease.
- Categorize the classifications of disease.
- Differentiate between signs and symptoms.
- Distinguish between disease diagnosis and prognosis.
- Cite characteristics that distinguish benign from malignant neoplasms.
- Describe the system used to stage malignant tumors.
- Identify predisposing factors that may contribute to disease.
- Examine skeletal and traumatic diseases as they apply to radiology.
- Identify and classify various types of skeletal fractures.
- Describe examples/sites, complications, and prognosis for classifications of trauma.
- Describe the healing process associated with skeletal trauma.
- Explain the role of various imaging modalities in the evaluation and treatment of traumatic injuries.
- Classify diseases by system, and correlate them with radiographic procedures.
- Define the anatomic components of each system.
- Identify and explain the criteria for assessing technical adequacy of various pathologies.
- Describe the various systemic classifications of disease in terms of etiology, types, common sites, complications, and prognosis.
- Explain the role of various imaging modalities in the diagnosis and treatment of various pathologies.
- Classify diseases as additive or destructive.
