BIT 265 Bioinformatics
This course studies the organization and analysis of biological information, involving the use of computers related to databases, retrieval mechanisms, and data analysis tools, especially in the fields of molecular biology, structural biology, and genetics. Included are sequence alignment, gene finding, genome assembly, protein structure alignment, protein structure prediction, the human DNA system and the Human Genome Project. Coordinated laboratory experiments are an integral part of this course.

Prerequisite: (BIO 140 or BIO 150) and
CIS 107.
