HUM-159 Digital Culture

A survey course of the pervasive impact of technology on contemporary life and institutions. Topics include a history of technology; social media and mobile technology's role in the "my" culture; security and privacy on the Internet; career technologies; search, search engines, information, and "big data"; gaming; the sharing economy; technology and gender; and other topics. Course assessments include blogging, quizzes and exercises. Word processing, email and Moodle skills recommended.
