Student Health Services

Student Health Services (SHS) serves as the primary advocate for the health of Barry University students by integrating the critical role of college health into the university mission.

SHS provides quality health care utilizing a nursing model in primary care delivery and in collaboration with local physicians to promote a healthy community and healthy individuals as critical components of student learning.

Student Insurance Plan

All graduate students registered for nine (9) or more credit hours in the Podiatric, Physician Assistant, Anesthesia, Law, Graduate Occupational Therapy, and Graduate Social Work programs will be automatically billed for the Barry University sponsored Student Health Insurance plan at registration for the semester in which they are beginning their studies at Barry (Fall, Spring or summer), and will continue to be billed for subsequent semesters unless an insurance waiver is completed and approved. Students with private health insurance coverage may complete an insurance waiver to have their private insurance considered to request to have the fee for the semester insurance charge removed. Waivers must be completed upon entering the University within the first 21 days of the semester, and each subsequent Fall semester.

Students MUST complete the insurance waiver and upload a copy of their insurance card as soon as possible after you register for the semester and no later than the first 21 days of the semester.

Barry email is the official form of communication for the University. You will receive an email  after registering notifying you of the insurance billing. This email will also include instructions for waiving or activating the student insurance plan. You will not be able to complete the waiver or activation process until you receive the email notice. Please read the instructions carefully as the cost of the insurance plan is non-refundable after the first 21 days of the semester.
