Concentration in Child Welfare

The Concentration in Child Welfare allows students the opportunity to focus their electives, assignments and Internship in the area of child welfare. It is designed to give students interested in vocations serving at-risk children an edge in the field upon graduation with their BSW. The primary goals of the concentration are to engage students with practice topics around child maltreatment and advocacy, increasing awareness of at-risk and vulnerable populations, and serving clients who lack a decision-making capacity. Students who complete the concentration will be prepared to take the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) Child Welfare Certificate exam offered through the Florida Certification Board (FCB).
