CLB-440 MEDICAL MICROBIOLOGY

Clinical Laboratory microbiology is designed to provide the student with theory and practical applications specific to microbiology in patient care. It provides case studies to engage students as team members of a medical team providing highly specific microbiological laboratory techniques. The focus of this course is diagnostic microbiology including specimen collection and processing; identification of clinically significant pathogens including bacteria, yeasts and fungi, parasites and viruses. It is specifically designed for students in the Medical Technology Specialization in Clinical Biology. Prerequisites: BIO 104 & BIO 104L, BIO 253 & BIO 253L, BIO 303, BIO 330 & BIO 330L
