BIO-199 S/T:CUR TOPICS SCIENCE & MATH

An interdisciplinary problem based learning (PBL), course taught by faculty from BIO, CHE, MAT and/, or CS. Problem Based Learning (PBL) is an, instructional method that promotes learning by, allowing students to develop problem solving, strategies. Current Topics in Science and, Mathematics aims to examine current problems that, address biological, chemical, and socio-economic, issues, many of which are open ended. Sample, topics include: Epidemics/Global Illnesses;, Climate Change; Pollution; Alternative Energy;, Green movement; Genetically Modified Foods;, Nuclear Energy/Proliferation of Weapons; Water;, Population Growth; Exercise, Physiology/Supplements; Genomics; Drugs:, Therapeutic and Street Drugs, Diet and Disease, and others. Prerequisites: ENG 111, CS 180, MAT, 095 and SPE 101 or COM 104 or TH 155 or, permission of the instructor.
