LAW-6624 INTRO BANKRUPTCY LAW & PRACT

The seminar for law students will provide an introduction and exploration of the primary legal concepts found in the field of Bankruptcy law. The seminar focuses three main chapters under which a potential debtor may file for relief under Title 11 of the United States Code: Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13. It will consider the chapters which provide for the administration of the bankruptcy case: Chapter 3 and Chapter 5. The course provides an understanding of the application of these chapters in a real bankruptcy case. It will provide the students with an understanding of the different practitioner participants in the bankruptcy legal field. Students will engage in research and writing related to one bankruptcy case.
