LAW-6460 FOUNDATIONS OF LAW
As a student of the law, you are required to know the law; but have you ever wondered why we have the law we do? If laws are an expression of values, what value system(s) are our laws built upon? How, for example, did Martin Luther King, Jr. decide what laws were "just" or "unjust"? Was there a moral compass that guided the decisions of our Founding Fathers? Does "Might Make Right"? This course will explore the foundations on which our Nations laws and culture were constructed. It will also encourage each student to examine his/her own foundations as they prepare to take their places as the future lawyers of our society.
