LAW-6415 PRODUCTS LIABILITY SEMINAR

The Products Liability Seminar will focus on the history and development of the common law and statutory liability for the design, manufacture, and sale of products that cause harm to consumers. The course will examine theories of liability such as strict liability in tort, negligence, failure to warn, breach of warranty and the role of consumer expectations and risk utility in determining liability. The course will touch upon defenses, remedies, comparative liability and administrative regimes that address products liability. Grades will be determined on class participation and a final paper which may be used to satisfy the Upper Level Writing Requirement.
