LAW-6133 COLLABORATIVE FAMILY LAW

Formerly known as Making the Divorce Work, this course will take a multi-disciplinary approach to the practice of family law. It will examine the short and long-term emotional effects of the present system of aggressive litigation on the family members, and study the impact of the current application of the Rules of Professional Responsibility on the practice. It will also examine the use of other disciplines in the process, including psychological, social, and collaborative law efforts to diffuse the emotional trauma, as well as the need for changes in the law and for education of all the actors in the process, including the parties, the Bar and the Bench. Prerequisite: Professional Responsibility; Prerequisite or Co-requisite: Family Law.
