Temporary Employment Policy

Employment Categories

The University shall have the following types of employees and employment agreements:

  1. Regular Full-Time – full time employees hired for a period of one year, renewable. (Normal salary and benefits as per UD grading scale)

  2. UG & G students – Students may be hired on part-time work contracts. 

  3. Temps - Temporary Work Contract- non sponsored employees hired for a period of up to six months and can be extended up to a maximum of one year total based on President approval. Temporary Work employees will be hired locally. Temporary staff are limited to work a maximum of 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week. (Basic salary with no benefits)

Procedures:

  1. UG students are hired on a part-time basis at the rate of 30 AED per hour without benefits. Graduate students are hired on a part-time basis at the rate of 50 AED per hour without benefits. 

    1. Provisions for student workers must be included and approved in the budget.

    2. Employing department must write to HR to receive approval before hiring

    3. Related paperwork must be submitted

    4. HR will issue a contract.

  2. Temps - Temporary employees to be paid the basic salary of the position hired for.
