Concentration Overview
Return to the Heavin School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education
Students in the B.A. in Criminal Justice program Law and Society Concentration focus on the interdisciplinary study of crime and the functioning of the criminal justice system. Students develop critical analytical skills and knowledge of research methodologies and findings. The program explores emerging issues in criminal justice as well as ethical dimensions in the field. In addition, students grow a broad knowledge of the traditional liberal arts disciplines while developing a greater depth of knowledge in criminal justice. The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree program in Criminal Justice prepares students for a wide range of careers within the criminal justice field, as well as career change, advancement, or graduate and professional education.
The Law and Society Concertation consists of 12 credit hours of coursework that explores relationships and interactions between law, social structure and cultural practices. The concentration exposes students to the fundamentals of the law and considers how legal and social systems are interconnected. Please contact an Advisor for further information.
