The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with an area of study in Radiation Protection is designed for radiation safety personnel in nuclear power plants, hospitals, and industrial and research settings. The program enables mid-career adults in a wide range of applied fields meet their educational and professional needs while completing a baccalaureate degree. A total of 18 area of study credits must be from 300/400-level courses. The degree is a 120-credit program.

- How Students Earn Credit in the Area of Study: Credit is awarded for National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists NRRPT certification, Navy Basic Nuclear Power School, certification from nuclear utility Institute of Nuclear Power Operations INPO accredited program, and American Council on Education ACE-recommended company training. The remaining credits may be earned by Guided Study, prior learning assessment (PLA), or classroom instruction
- A total of 18 area of study credits must be from courses at the 300 level or above.
Courses listed in the area of study are offered as a guide. Other courses may also be considered appropriate for the program. The inclusion of similar courses must be reviewed by the evaluation team. Students must submit their program plan for review to ensure that course selection is appropriate for the degree.
