CMPSC-151 Programming with AI for the Social Sciences
This course introduces AI-assisted analysis of text and images using large language models and Python. Grounded in social science applications but open to students from all disciplines, the course develops practical skills in creating, testing, validating, and automating AI-based analytical workflows. Applications may include classifying and summarizing tweets and other social media posts, extracting features from documents, analyzing sentiment and themes, correcting imperfect text, describing images, and extracting information from visual materials. The course also addresses reproducibility, privacy, security, bias, and the limitations of generative AI.
