CN 575 Addictions Counseling

This course provides an overview of the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of substance and process addictions. Participants gain a basic understanding of the psychopharmacology of addictive substances, treatment modalities, the roles and responsibilities of the professional addiction counselor, and art therapy treatment and music therapy treatment in addictions.  Attention will be given to trauma-informed and trauma specific care, and self-help and/or support groups, as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment plan for addiction problems.
