2021-2022 Catalog and Student Handbook

LEAD 290 Next Generation Board Leadership

Nonprofit leadership from a board perspective. Students are partnered with a nonprofit organization based on interests and availability for two semesters. Students attend monthly board and  committee meetings, serving as a board member. Weekly classes use hands-on exercises, readings, and discussion to familiarize students with the concepts of nonprofit management and to teach best practices in nonprofit leadership and capacity-building. Students will assess their nonprofit, analyze opportunities, and in the second semester, develop a proposal and grant application to increase their organization's impact in the community.
