BIOL 161 Human Health and Infectious diseases

Course will explore the relationship between humans and infectious disease. Course topics will discuss the basic principles of microorganism (bacteria, fungi, protozoa, virus), epidemiology, transmission of infectious disease, and relevant infectious disease to the human population. This course will focus on key infectious disease that are relevant to the human population, with additional focus on specific infectious disease. These include malaria, measles, SARS-CoV2, sexually transmitted disease, emerging infectious disease, tuberculosis, healthcare associated infections, influenza, and other infections chosen by the students. Discussion of diseases will emphasize the relationship between how humans can influence the occurrence of infections.
