SOC 401RI Sociology of Disney

The Disney Corporation is one of the most well-known American corporations in the world. Among sociologists and cultural critics, it is the locus of interest on American popular culture. This course is an exploration into the cultural phenomenon of Disney. Students will explore sociological theories on theme parks and culture of Disney. Additionally, students will spend time on-site at the Magic Kingdom where they will apply course concepts to an on-site final exam and gather for a class presentation. This course is research-intensive and satisfies the experiential learning requirement.
