MSC 540 Advncd Marine Mammal Biology

This course is a comprehensive study of marine mammal taxa with primary focus on cetacea and sirenia. Topics will include evolutionary history, taxonomy, anatomic and physiologic adaptations to the marine environment, population dynamics, behavioral ecology, conservation and legal issues. The role of marine mammals as bio monitors of environmental health is included.
