MSHI 524 Epidemiology and Evidence-Based Health
The course provides a comprehensive introductionto epidemiology and evidence-based principles andtheories as applied to public and populationbased health informatics. Analysis ofinformation and technology issues related topopulation and groups of individuals will beexamined. Emphasis is placed on application ofepidemiology and evidence-based practiceprinciples to population based problems, questionformulation, identification of evidence-basedinterventions, evaluation and analysis ofqualitative and quantitative data, interpretationof results and outcomes, and prevention ofhealth-related events. Course will examineinteroperable health informatics systems thatenable health surveillance, reporting, promotion,prevention, and outbreak management to yieldevidence and data informed decision-making.
