MHC 504 Introduction to Counseling Skills and P
This course provides an overview and practice ofbasic counseling skills counselors need in orderto function effectively. A discussion of skillsneeded for coaching will also be addressed. Theseskills will form the basic communication patternbetween counselor and client and facilitate boththe relationship (maintenance) and content (task)functions of counseling. An emphasis will beplaced on how to identify clients' issues andapply appropriate counseling strategies. Alsoaddressed will be different professional pathsthat exist in the counseling profession with anemphasis on professional identity.
