DSIM 529 Optimizing Operations in Modern Corpora
A conceptual framework is provided for evaluatingoperations management practices in traditionalmanufacturing firms and service organizations.Concepts, techniques and tools related to thefour major decision responsibilities ofoperations managers are studied and discussed.Concepts and practices, such as operating design,total quality management/six sigma, projectmanagement, supply chain management, capacityplanning and lean management are examined usingpractical applications. Several computer-basedsolutions for operations problems illustrate thetools available to the operations manager.Lastly, this course engages the student in theidentification and solution of areal-world casestudy that will serve as a vehicle to integratethis course with three other courses in theprogram.
