PHIL-202 Eastern Philosophy
What is the self? What is the good life for a human being? What is the relationship between humans and nature? Are all things interconnected? What is the universe fundamentally like? In this course we will explore how these questions have been addressed in Eastern philosophy, and see how life's great mysteries can be explored in a variety of ways by engaging in the numerous philosophical methods found in Eastern thought. Typical focus is on key philosophical texts from China, India, and Japan, and views often discussed include Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, and the various metaphysical, epistemological, and ethical aspects of different versions of these theories.
