DST 250 Exploring Deaf Narratives Through Research
This course introduces students to the research practice of exploring Deaf narrative through ethnographic interviews. Students will gain hands-on experience in designing and conducting interviews, with a focus on the diversity of Deaf lived experiences across race, gender, sexuality, class, disability, nationality, and linguistic identities. The course emphasizes ethical approaches to research in Deaf communities and the methodological skills necessary for collecting, transcribing, coding, and analyzing narratives. Students will complete the course with an applied project based on their own ethnographic interview work.
