NUR 139 Medical Surgical Nursing

This course defines the role of the practical nurse as a provider of care and member within the discipline of nursing. Emphasis is placed on the systematic attainment of theoretical knowledge using the nursing process and critical thinking skills needed for beginning medical-surgical clinical practice. Concepts of health promotion, maintenance, and restoration in caring for adults with: fluid, electrolyte, acid-base analysis; cancer; cardiovascular; endocrine; gastrointestinal; integumentary; immune; male reproductive; musculoskeletal; neurological; pain; respiratory; sensory; sexually transmitted infections; shock; surgical; and urinary disorders.
