PHLT 342 Social Determinants of Health and Well-Being

This course will examine the social determinants of health and health inequalities as well as evaluate appropriate public health responses. Students will explore current theories explaining development and persistence of inequalities of health. Students will be introduced to basic terms, concepts, and measurements related to health, public health, population health, and health inequalities. Examples of how a social science approach can improve our understanding of health and illness at a population level will be discussed. Target: Psychology Degree Seeking Students
