Overview

The Human Resource Management (MS) focuses on the practical workings of human resources. The goal of the program is to prepare the human resource leaders in an increasingly diverse and international workplace. Students will learn to develop a strategic staffing vision, shape corporate culture, and empower organizational change. The program is a 30-hour accelerated online program. Graduates of the program will have the skills to contribute to the missions of global companies, especially those that conduct business in Mexico and Latin America, a significant sector of the Rio Grande Valley local business environment.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the graduate program, prospective candidates must first meet all requirements for graduate admission to UTRGV, as well as the other requirements listed below:

  1. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 semester credit hours. 
  2. GMAT Exam with a minimum score of 400 or the GRE test with minimum scores of 146 Verbal and 146 Quantitative. GRE School Code: 6570 and GMAT School code: 9P3.
  3. Two letters of recommendation.
  4. Respond to five short answer questions to demonstrate writing competency and communication skills. 

A waiver of the GMAT requirement may be granted to applicants who show proof of one of the following:

  • Another graduate degree (masters or doctoral)
  • An undergraduate GPA of 3.25 in upper-division courses in the last 60 semester credit hours.
  • A waiver may be granted to those students who have more than four years of upper managerial experience in supervisory roles, control of budgets, and decision-making.
